How to Deal With Anxiety

June 5, 2015 By Dawyn Cloud-Alter Leave a Comment

While being a perfectly normal and natural part of our lives, anxiety can take its toll when it is experienced more often than our ability to cope with it.  Anxiety symptoms can become overwhelming and can be felt on a physical, mental, and emotional level. Fortunately, there is a lot that you can do to learn to overcome the anxiety in your life and to gain your freedom from its symptoms.

Here’s How to Deal With Anxiety:

  1. Breathing techniques – The right breathing exercises can help to bring your anxiety levels down right away while they improve your focus and balance your energy levels.  To learn more about how to use breathing techniques, please read my article called “Deep Breathing Exercises”.
  2. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Tapping Therapy – EFT is based on the same principles as acupuncture, except that instead of using needles, EFT simply uses fingertips to tap those same points.  EFT is easy to learn to do yourself, and the best place to start is The Tapping Solution.
  3. Exercise – Which helps to promote better overall wellness and is a natural stress reducer.  To learn more about how exercise can help your anxiety reduction, please read my article called “Why is Exercise Important to Mental & Emotional Health?”.
  4. Meditation – This practice helps to calm the body and mind.  Since the body can’t be relaxed and anxious at the same time, practicing meditation and breathing techniques slows everything down.  The heart rate and blood pressure, among other functions, slow as you relax.  For more information on how to begin with meditation or how to use it specifically for reducing anxiety, Deepak Chopra offers some very helpful guidance.
